Best way to generate the deviceId strings?

In the example for the About interface the deviceId seems to be arbitrarily set. Or is there some meaning behind it?

Thanks

As far as I've found out it is an Unique Unit Identifier (UUID). You can generate UUID's online (e.g. https://www.uuidgenerator.net/ ).

UUID's are generated using a timestamp and the MAC address of the end device. May you look up a detailed description on UUID's here: UUID Wiki

An arbitrarily UUID is possible but should only be used for test purposes or examples. I hope this answer is helpful! :)

As per the About Interface Definition, DeviceId is an identifier set by platform-specific means.

AppId as julianbros has mentioned should be an UUID.
