In my opinion you can address every device that is available in your subnet. So let's assume you've got a device in network 172.16.20.0 - 172.16.20.255. The subnetmask is /24 or 255.255.255.0 In this scenario (without an AllJoyn Gateway) you're limited to a maximum number of 254 addresses (256 overall, but you've one subnet address and a broadcast address). If you add another network interface like 10.8.8.0 /24 and your alljoyn device is configured properly (Transport: PROXIMITY_ANY), you can reach another 254 addresses.

As you can see: The amount of reachable devices depends on the amount of network interfaces, configured IP-Addresses/subnets and right implementation.
