Hi friends,

Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm new to AJ and I couldn't find a complete answer to this anywhere.

When an app advertises itself, where does the advertisement go? Is there some sort of a DNS for AJ apps? And where do apps search for providers? I'm clueless about the communication requirements of AJ - does it require an internet connection? Or only a hotspot?

There probably exist answers to this which I couldn't find, please feel free to refer me to existing pages.

Thanks in advance, Amit

Take a look at this page, it talks through how advertising and discovery work in AllJoyn. AllJoyn runs on the local network and does not require an Internet connection. The 'Network Architecture' section on the Architecture page has more details.

Thank you @mitchw. I was looking for something of lower level. Can you (or anyone) explain exactly where the advertisement goes when I send it? Is it a TCP packet? Or is it some buffer that's thrown into the air for others to catch? Thanks
